In Fall 2021, Cornell launched a new digital-first alumni publication, Cornellians, produced jointly by Alumni Affairs and Development (AAD) and University Relations (UR) to serve a diverse global alumni audience of nearly 300,000. Cornellians is the cornerstone of Cornell’s commitment to connect, engage, inform, and inspire alumni (along with friends, family, faculty, students, and staff) with compelling stories, multimedia content, and calls to action.
The mission of Cornellians is to engage and inspire alumni throughout their lifetime by informing, entertaining, and connecting the Big Red community around the globe. With a lively and welcoming voice, this digital-first publication keeps readers up to date with Cornell life today; shares stories from the University’s rich and compelling history; celebrates the diversity of Cornell; and showcases the accomplishments of its graduates, faculty, and students as they seek (as founder Ezra Cornell himself put it) ‘to do the greatest good’ and make a difference in the world. The Staff Writer will research, generate and craft lively stories (multi-source features, profiles, Q&As, trends, issue-oriented pieces, calls to action, multimedia packages). A successful candidate possesses writerly voice and verve, delivering crisp, clean copy and utilizing rigorous journalistic standards to speak to, and with, diverse readers from every era.
